Webflow Form Builder — Beyond the Native Form Block

Yes. Webflow has a native form block you drag in from the Add panel, with Input, Checkbox and File upload elements, and you style it with the same control you style everything else in Webflow. Submissions can be stored in Webflow, emailed, sent to webhooks or routed to connected Apps, and you can export them as CSV. What the form block does not do is conditional logic, multi-step pages, payments or signatures. Webflow's own app directory describes those as things third-party apps add to native form blocks.

On paid Site plans, unlimited. Webflow states it plainly: "Form submission limits are based on your Site plan. Sites on the free Starter Site plan are limited to 50 total form submissions. This limit doesn't reset. Form submissions are unlimited on all other Site plans." So the only hard cap is the free Starter plan, where you get 50 submissions ever and then, in Webflow's words, "new form submissions will no longer be collected." FormNX gives you unlimited forms and unlimited responses on every plan including free, and because the form is hosted in FormNX the count is not tied to your Webflow Site plan at all.

Not in the native form block. Webflow's own integrations directory lists third-party apps as the route to it, describing one as a way "to add multistep flows, conditional logic, and progress indicators to native form blocks without custom JavaScript." That is Webflow telling you the native block does not do it. Without an app you are writing custom JavaScript. Only with custom code or a third-party app. Multi-step is one of the specific things Webflow's app directory says apps add to native form blocks, alongside progress indicators, which is why "webflow multi step form" is a well-worn search and a stack of tutorials exists for wiring it up manually. Not through the form block. There is no payment field in a Webflow form, and Webflow's app directory points at third parties for "payment processing" on forms. Webflow does have Ecommerce, but that is a separate product with its own checkout rather than a field inside your form. Not natively. There is no signature field among Webflow's form elements, and Webflow's own directory suggests connecting DocuSign "to turn form submissions into signed agreements" - which means a second tool and a second step for the person filling it in. FormNX has a built-in signature field with an audit trail, so a waiver, consent form or client agreement is signed in the same submission as the details you are collecting.

If you leave the default in place, into Webflow. Each form gets its own table showing the submission count and the submitted data, uploaded files appear as clickable URLs, and you can download everything as CSV. You can also send submissions to email notifications, webhooks or connected Apps, and set site-level notification defaults that new forms inherit. It is a genuinely capable setup. The catch is that it lives inside the Webflow site: access follows the Site plan and the Workspace, and if you export the site Webflow stops processing submissions entirely. Yes, within limits. Webflow lets you set a comma-separated list of recipients per form, and customize the subject, sender details and message, including variables such as formName and formData. On the free Starter Site plan, though, "form notification emails are limited to five recipients, and all recipients must be Workspace members", so you cannot notify a client or a shared inbox from a free site. FormNX sends notification emails to any address on any plan, whether or not they are on your team, with CC and BCC so the client and your team both get the lead. The person who submitted gets an automatic confirmation email, you can pull their answers into the email with dynamic tags, attach a PDF of the submission on paid plans, and send from your own domain with custom SMTP.

Only on the higher Site plans. Webflow's documentation states you can add a file upload element if your site is on the Premium Site plan (or the legacy Business plan), Ecommerce Plus, or Ecommerce Advanced, and each upload accepts one file of up to 10MB. FormNX includes file and image uploads on the free plan, with your own file type and size controls, and respondents never sign in to attach anything.

With the Code Embed element. In the Designer, open the Add panel, drag in a Code Embed where you want the form, paste your snippet and save. Webflow notes that a Code Embed "cannot exceed 50,000 characters" and supports HTML, CSS in style tags and JS in script tags, so an embedded form is well within scope. One thing that trips people up: Webflow says the effects of custom code "won't go live until your site is published", and some embeds only render on the live site, so always publish and check the real page before assuming something is broken.

On a custom domain, yes. Webflow is explicit: "You don't need an active Site plan to receive form submissions on the webflow.io staging subdomain, but you do need an active Site plan to receive form submissions on a custom domain." So a Webflow site on your own domain without a Site plan will not collect native form submissions. An embedded FormNX form is processed by FormNX rather than by Webflow, so it collects responses on any domain, and you can also share it as a hosted link, popup or QR code with no embed at all.

Native forms stop working. Webflow states that "if you've exported your site for external hosting, Webflow will not process form submissions on your site", so you have to wire up a third-party handler for every form you built. The same applies in spirit to a replatform: the form and its submission history stay behind. It styles beautifully, submissions are unlimited on paid plans, and there is nothing to embed.
